April Masthead
Welcome to The Windham Weaponry Newsletter - Vol. 2 / Issue 4A
April 2013

    Windham Weaponry is busier than a beehive this Spring! While we're building rifles as fast as we can, be assured that we won't sacrifice quality for speed! The Windham Weaponry name was built on quality and service, and those foundations won't change.

    Our newest model - the Carbon Fiber SRC - is coming out of our Phoenix facility now and you should see them at your FFL Dealer soon. Its light weight - due to molded carbon fiber receivers - will make it a standout at the range or on the hunt. See the tech specs on it featured in this issue.

    As always, your feedback is welcome - be assured that we listen to what our customers and friends have to say. And feel free to send us photos of how you enjoy your Windham Weaponry rifle - we'd love to hear from you. Contact us through www.windhamweaponry.com or newsletter@windhamweaponry.com

TOPIC:  INSTALLATION OF AN AMBIDEXTROUS SAFETY

For those wishing to install an ambidextrous safety selector, here are instructions on how to properly do so. This is the POF Ambi Safety that we sell in our catalog but most selectors install the same way. If you have a different type follow the manufacturer's instructions.

First - Make sure the weapon is unloaded!

Remove upper from lower by pushing out the takedown and pivot pins. With a 3/16" Allen wrench, remove pistol grip screw that is up inside the pistol grip. When removing the pistol grip be careful not to lose the safety detent which is in the small hole in the receiver under the safety. Also be careful not to lose the safety detent spring which is in a hole in the pistol grip and puts tension on the detent.

Gunsmithing#1

With the hammer cocked push the stock safety out of the receiver. Remove the screw from the ambi safety's right side lever and insert new safety into the receiver.

Gunsmithing#3

Replace the right side lever on the ambi safety and tighten the screw back on.

Gunsmithing#4 Gunsmithing#5

 With the safety detent spring in the pistol grip, line the spring up with the detent hole and push the pistol grip back on. Tighten the pistol grip screw back into the grip and receiver until snug.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

Several weeks ago, I purchased a Windham Weapons AR-15 carbine from a local gun-shop owned by a friend of mine. My son and I were going over it and looking over the product literature and noticed that most of the employees' names and pictures were in one of the brochures. We thought this was "interesting". But that's not really what I wanted to tell you about. I really want to thank you all for simply being "approachable" and non-corporate. But in order to do that, I'm going to have to relate another experience I had recently.

WAY back in June of 2012, I ordered some AR-15 parts from another fairly large company. I had NO idea that Windham even existed. Most of the parts arrived within a few weeks, but one (a full bolt group) did not. In October, I called them and they assured me that in two weeks the bolt would ship. I wasn't in a big hurry for the part, but mainly wanted to be sure that they still had my order in their system. Then, this past week I called them AGAIN. She assured me that it would be shipped in two weeks, and I told her that I had been "assured" before... back in October.

Immediately after this, I called Windham simply out of curiosity. There were no AR-15 bolts listed in-stock on the website, but I called anyway. I spoke with Matt Hasty, who amazingly enough was HAPPY to talk to me! He told me that there WERE in fact some bolts and that if I wanted to, he could send me one. At first, I was going to hold off and wait for the other one. But I'm just tired of messing with big corporate entities who don't care whether they talk to me or NOT. So I told him, "SURE!" ...and I ordered the bolt.

Yesterday, the bolt ARRIVED. THANK YOU! The bolt was for a rifle I built for one of my sons (a Soldier) and had been sitting NEW, but bolt-less for nine months. He was HAPPY to finally have a bolt in the

rifle! He was here on leave this week when the Windham bolt arrived, which was just a "plus" in my opinion. I'm canceling the order for the bolt with the larger company.

I'm certain that as word spreads of you being the former Bushmaster team that you'll grow. I just hope that no matter HOW big you get, that you can keep people who just seem to genuinely care.... people

like Matt and Cheryl. I'm glad I found out about your company. I'll check with you all FIRST the next time I need AR-15 parts.

Thanks,  Kevin K.

Our gunsmith, Erik, discovered this great workbench mat for the armorer or AR Carbine owner and he's been using one ever since. From Armor industrial Products, this Windham Weaponry customized Work-Shield Gun Mat is made from heavy black material in 54" x 16" dimensions. It incorporates two strips of magnetic material that hold springs, detents and small parts in place while you work, and also serve to keep the mat neatly rolled up when work is complete. The material is Industrial Grade PVC Membrane that will withstand solvents and bore cleaners, and will not absorb chemicals. It protects your table top and gun while you're working, will not break down over time, and cleans easily with a cloth. It is custom screen printed with a gold Windham Weaponry logo. Made in the U.S.A.

What's New in LE?

The month of April has been a very busy time for Law Enforcement Sales here at Windham Weaponry, with the Maine Warden Service, featured on North Woods Law, adding to their existing Windham rifles - they increased their number to 125 by adding an additional 65 rifles.

The Maine State Police have also made a purchase of rifles from the factory and we here at Windham Weaponry feel this is just the beginning for the MSP.

With the increased sales of Windham rifles to departments around the country we realize the increased need for armorer's course training. So I am offering my third armorers course to be held here at the factory on June 11/12, 2013. The class will have spots available for the public. To be eligible for this course you need meet only ONE of the following requirements:

  1. Active Law Enforcement;
  2. Retired Law Enforcement and covered under H.R. 218;
  3. Have a FFL (dealer or personal) or work for a business that has an FFL; or
  4. Have a current concealed firearms permit.

For additional information on the class, or to sign up, please contact me directly at tcoons@windhamweaponry.com  The course will be filled on a first come first serve basis as space is very limited.

I will be heading to the NRA show in May, so if you are in the Houston area please be sure to stop by our booth and introduce yourself.

Nicole began her career in the gun industry 10 years ago, when she joined Bushmaster in 2003 as the cleaning lady.  In addition to that role, she also would help on the production floor at the end of each month building rifles and shipping them out.  After 5 years, she was offered a position in the invoicing department, where she worked up until her last day at Bushmaster when they closed their doors in April 2011.  Months later, she was at a Red Sox game when she received a message from Dick Dyke about coming back to work for him and his team.  Nicole and her husband were so excited they forgot about the Red Sox game.  Nicole is now working in Accounting as Accounts Payable and loves her job, with her positive attitude and willingness to do whatever needs to be done, she will give 110%  every day.

Outside of work Nicole, has three boys, ages 5, 9  and 12, all of whom are very active in baseball. soccer and ice hockey.  Nicole and her husband enjoy camping each summer at Wassamski Springs campground.  She also enjoys going to the gym, and walking and jogging in her free time, as well as spending time with family and friends.
